In Autumn 2019 Welsh National Opera performs a feisty new production alongside two critically acclaimed productions in a season that will leave you begging for more.
No one can resist the charms of opera’s ultimate seductress Carmen. WNO’s new production will bring all the passion and drama expected of this iconic opera featuring Bizet’s alluring music, including the famous Toreador Song to Carmen’s provocative Habanera.
Verdi wrote that Rigoletto was his best opera, and with its dramatic storyline and score it’s easy to see why it continues to be such an enduring favourite. This timely revival of WNO’s acclaimed production is set in the White House during the Kennedy era.
The Season then closes with WNO’s colourful production of Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen which is charming, funny and profound in equal measure and reunites Director, David Pountney with WNO Music Director, Tomáš Hanus.
