A new piece of musical theatre that tells the story of two refugees
Beyond the Rainbow is a new piece of musical theatre that tells the story of two refugees and the trials they face as they desperately cross borders to seek refuge in different countries, leading to their subsequent struggle to fit into their new communities.
The piece aims to raise awareness of the struggles that Refugee and asylum seekers face. Digging into personal backgrounds and the reasons that forced the characters to leave their homeland, Beyond The Rainbow aims to dispel the negative myths that are often repeated about refugees and asylum seekers in the media.
The musical will feature three singers and Zim Voices, and the music will reflect the sound scape of the countries they travel through. Through Beyond the Rainbow, Welsh National Opera continues to support the team members in developing their skills in writing, directing, producing, acting and singing throughout the life time of the project.
