Ainārs Rubiķis
Overview
Ainārs Rubiķis was born in Riga and studied at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Music Academy. He won the 2010 Gustav Mahler Conducting Competition and the 2011 Nestlé and Salzburg Festival Young Conductors Award. From 2012 to 2014 he led the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre as Musical Director and Chief Conductor. Since autumn 2018 Rubiķis has been the Music Director of the Komische Oper Berlin.
