Pietro Rizzo

Born in Rome, after graduating as a violinist from the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia Pietro Rizzo continued his studies at Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena and at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. From 1997 to 2000 he studied conducting at the Sibelius Academy Helsinki. He has conducted in opera houses across the world, including the Metropolitan Opera New York, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bavarian State Opera Munich, New National Theatre Tokyo, Teatro dell’Opera in Rome. He has been Erste Kapellmeister at the Aalto Theater in Essen, Chief Conductor at the Gotheborg Opera and since 2000 he has been a regular guest at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki.

Recent engagements: Nabucco (Slovak National Theatre, Bratislava); La bohème (Welsh National Opera); La traviata (Royal Swedish Opera, Stockholm); La fanciulla del west (Hungarian State Opera, Budapest).
