2024/2025 WNO member events

As a valued WNO Friend or Patron you have access to exclusive behind-the-scenes events.

You have the opportunity to glimpse into rehearsals, chances to meet the WNO team, backstage tours and more. Below are the current events available to book and more will be added through the year so keep checking back.

In order to book member events you will need to provide an exclusive promo code which has been sent via email as part of your membership. Due to limited availability members are eligible for a maximum of two tickets unless otherwise stated on the event listing.


Dress rehearsals

Tuesday 4 February – Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff

Dress rehearsals are free to attend for members who have purchased tickets to the production in the same Season.

Tickets for the dress rehearsals will be available to collect from a member of the Development team in the main foyer from 30 minutes prior to the start of the rehearsal.

Witness some of our stage rehearsals with orchestra and gain an insight into the level of detail undertaken by both conductor and director in the preparation prior to opening night. This rehearsal will focus on a section of the production rather than a full run through. 

Please meet at the north end of the main foyer (Ffwrnais) at Wales Millennium Centre 15 minutes prior to the advertised start time,  where you will be met by a member of the Development team

Sitzproben

Experience the sheer musical force of one of our sitzproben in person, with a section of the production being worked through by our talented performing staff when the WNO Orchestra and Chorus join together for the first time before starting stage rehearsals. 

Please meet at the north end of the main foyer at WMC for 2.45pm, where you will be met by a member of the Development team.

Patrons' preview

Friday 7 February – Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff 
11am - 1pm  

The event will give an insight into the Company's plans for the future with a chance to meet our new leadership as well as experience a live performance by guest artist and former WNO Associate Artist, Harriet Eyley. You'll also catch a glimpse into the world of our Wigs and Make-up department with WNO's multi-talented Head of Wigs & Make-up, Siân McCabe.

Member’s coffee mornings

Saturday 8 February – Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff
11am - 1pm

Join us for a hot drink and some cake and learn about the work of our costume and technical department in preparing items for production premiers and touring in a conversation and Q&A session with Sian Price, Head of Costume, and Grant Barden, Head of Technical Production.

Join us to learn about the work of our invaluable staff directors over a cup of tea and some cake.  Guided by the company’s long standing Staff Director, Caroline Chaney, this session will offer a real insight into the life of a rehearsal room and the processes needed to bring our mainstage operas to life. Followed by a Q&A session.

Meet the archivists

Tuesday 10 December, 20 February & 29 April – Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff
10.30am - 12.30pm

Enjoy a morning in the company of WNO's two volunteer archivists - John Richardson and Ian Douglas.  Hear about the work of our archive, while also taking a look around our in-house set up in a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of time to ask questions and share knowledge. This event is only available for small groups of four or less.
