Blaze of Glory! is the feel-good light opera which will make your heart sing.
Set in the 1950s it follows the fortunes of a group of miners who begin a musical odyssey when they form a choir following a mining disaster. The gleemen and their chorus master embark upon a series of adventures including, triumph and disaster at Eisteddfodau, kidnapping a yodeller, taking part in an historical trans-Atlantic conversation with Paul Robeson, dealing with the closure of their pit and making sacrifices to travel to London to sing in concert.
The piece showcases not only the men but the indomitable women who stood by them and one woman in particular who finally breaks through the glass ceiling to become one of the first to lead a Male Voice Choir.
Welsh close harmony singing combines with genres including 1950s a-cappella, gospel music, big-band, jive and Lindy hop.
