How your donation helps WNO

9 May 2024

Our mission at Welsh National Opera is to bring the power, drama and raw emotion of opera to as wide an audience as possible in performances, marked by an uncompromising quest for artistic quality. Everything you see on stage at a WNO opera is Made in Wales. From intricate costumes, to elaborate wigs, to every single prop, a team of dedicated crafts people and artists envisage and realise every production you see ensuring artistic excellence, from the heart of Wales. These skills are applied throughout the organisation, supporting our Youth Opera and outreach work creating incredible opportunities for the artists and audiences of tomorrow to have their introduction to opera.

Enriching peoples’ lives through opera isn’t possible without your support and we need your help now, more than ever, to keep the magic of opera alive. Any amount you donate can have a great impact on the work we deliver on stages and in communities across Wales and England. You can help us continue to deliver ambitious productions that are built and realised in Wales; you can help support the development of artists of the future; and you can help us ensure artistic excellence and thrilling experiences for generations to come.

How your donation could help:

Just £10 could help transform our cast and get them ready for the stage by providing a singer’s make-up at a performance.

If you donate £25, you could buy a month’s supply of thread for our costume department and stitch your support into our elegant gowns, sophisticated menswear and delightful accessories that bring our productions to life.

You may have seen our WNO vans around the country when we’re on tour and a £50 donation could pay for the MOT so our crew can travel safely to deliver sets, props and costumes to our host venues.

If you want to help ensure the future of the talent at Welsh National Opera, then a donation of £60 could pay for a young singer’s sessions for a term as part of WNO Youth Opera.

A bespoke moustache for a singer, so convincing you'll think it's the real thing, could be supported with a donation of £150.

Surtitle translation for our Youth Opera could be supported for £500, ensuring we continue to present our work bilingually across the Company.

As a ‘thank you’ for your support, we’re offering the chance to win a backstage tour of Wales Millennium Centre before a performance of Il trittico in Summer 2024*. Donate before Monday 3 June to enter.
