Rhondda Ripped It Up on Tour

5 July 2018
Rhondda and friends appear surprised

This Summer has been a rollercoaster so far and we are saying a hearty farewell to our new production Rhondda Rips It Up! for the time being.

On 7 June we had our world premiere of the production that was a hit with the audience at Newport and an apt location to be celebrating the life of the Newport suffragette. As well as receiving four and five start reviews, Rhondda Rips It Up! burst onto the media scene with a feature on BBC news and a our leading ladies, Lesley Garrett and Madeline Shaw also made an appearance on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour.

The surrounding activities around the comedy musical were also a hit with participants and audiences alike. With a 44 strong ladies Community Chorus singing a medley of suffragette songs at many venues and a Come & Sing element to these performances roused the audience before curtain up and were already in the spirit of the production with suffragette and WNO flags at the ready.

Here are a few highlights from our time touring this Summer…

We’d like to say a huge thank you to all that helped bring the story of Lady Rhondda to life, from the magnificent premiere in Riverfront, Newport to touring across England and Wales. We’ll see you in the Autumn. Visit our event page to see when and where you can catch the fun and frolics that is to be had in this party of a production this Autumn.
