Tosca audience reaction

Tosca audience reaction

Tosca made an impression on our audiences over the weekend, with some heartbreaking arias, mesmerising performances and high-octane drama.

We’ve been overjoyed by all the positive feedback we’ve received so far. Let’s see what our audiences in Cardiff had to say about the production:

nickireland64 - Mesmerised at my first ever opera - Tosca #wnotosca thank you @welshnat_opera_cencym 👏

steffan.donnelly - Sioeanhygoel / Beautiful production

nimah.pragnelltoal - What an incredible show! Absolutely beautiful

charloettejanekennedy - Incredible Tosca

Cavaradossi stands to the right of his painted fresco, his hand hovering above Mary Magdalene's left eye. He wears a jacket splattered with paint.

Tabitha Selley: Wonderful singers, musicians, music, costume design & set design (and subtitles all the way through so you can keep up with the story) 🎭 A perfect way to escape into another world and go through a tumultuous array of emotions ❤️(and I think lots of us need a little escape at the moment)

Vanessa Bassett An incredible first night! Natalya Romaniw was outstanding! Congratulations to all involved in the performance!

Geraldine Kennedy What an absolutely superb production. Outstanding performances from the whole cast made even more exquisite by the orchestra 🥰 I was so pleased I had plenty of tissues for the end of Act two and three. Thank you for yet another exceptional opera x

Kath-Thorne-ThomasWow - now that’s opera! Incredible performance which really puts you through the emotional wringer

Tosca sits near the edge of the stage, wearing a velvet jacket with a fur collar and cuffs. Scarpia is down on one knee, reaching towards Tosca and brushing her cheek with his finger. She appears unhappy, facing away from him with her eyes closed.

Thoroughly enjoyed wnotosca this evening. A special mention to Gower College Swansea alumni Natalya Romaniw- soprano on her incredible performance. Hers is a ‘Tosca’ for the ages 🙏

Tosca stands in Scarpia's bedroom facing away from the audience. She wears her sparkly showcase dress, and holds a steak knife behind her back.

Missed your chance to see the opening night? Not to worry. Tosca will be in the Wales Millennium Centre until 27 September, before going on tour to Southampton, Llandudno and Bristol.
