The WNO Orchestra returns with a tour of Wales this New Year with their now well-established popular Viennese concert series.
For 2019, the largest tour yet of six concerts in Swansea, Newtown, Bangor, Cardiff, St David’s and Newport will feature the spectacular music of Mozart and Johan Strauss II in a programme of timeless waltzes and polkas, transporting audiences to the Austrian capital and city of music.
WNO Leader and Concertmaster David Adams will direct the musicians and audience through a concert that includes some of the greatest waltzes ever known, including Strauss’s instantly recognizable Blue Danube, as well as the Acceleration and Sphärenklänge Waltzes. David will also feature as soloist in the virtuosic works for violin by Fritz Kreisler.
For the first time, WNO presents this series with the extra dimension of song with recently appointed WNO Associate Artist, soprano Harriet Eyley, will also be joining the Orchestra to sing four beautiful songs; Mozart’s Bester Jüngling, Lehár’s Meine Lippen sie küssen so heiss and Vilja Lied, as well as the Laughing Song from Die Fledermaus.
The evening will culminate with the stirring and rousing Radetsky March, designed to start the New Year with a bang!
