Alex Metcalfe

Alex Metcalfe studied Fine Art Photography at Sir John Faculty in London. During this period, he exhibited work in combined shows at London’s Festival Hall and Hayes Galleria as well being published in The Observer newspaper and trade magazines. In 1994 he graduated with a BA (Hons) in Photography, Film and Video from Westminster University.

After working on a broad range of television shows and short films Alex shot his first feature film Asylum (The Refuge in North America) in 2003. He has since shot 5 more features and numerous commercials, documentaries, and comedy dramas. His films and commercials have won a wide variety of awards including Best Feature at BAFTA Cymru (2014) for Playing Burton and multiple gold Promax awards. In 2017 he received a BAFTA Cymru nomination for Best Camera and Lighting on The Lighthouse.
