Alicja Kozak

Sub-Principal Cello

Alicja was born in Kraków, Poland, where she began learning cello at the age of six. She continued her musical education at Chopin University in Warsaw, Hochschule für Musik Detmold and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and graduated in 2020. In 2021/2022, she was awarded a Junior Fellowship at Guildhall, and prior to joining WNO in 2023 she freelanced with various ensembles across the UK and Europe and performed at Wigmore Hall, Berlin Mendelssohn Remise, Penderecki Centre in Lusławice and with the National Orchestra of Polish Radio in Katowice.

Alicja has won many competitions at international level including the Spisak International Competition, Concurso Internacional De Musica Agustín Aponte, Gustav Mahler Prize Cello Competition as well as the prestigious Danczowski Cello Competition.

Alicja loves walking in the countryside and dogs.
