Anya’s mum was her first violin teacher; she then went to Junior Guildhall, followed by study in Madrid, Spain. Lastly, she studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Anya has experienced a varied and interesting freelance career before joining WNO. She has played with the Britten Sinfonia, English Chamber Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the English National Ballet Philharmonic. More recently, she played in the orchestra for Glyndebourne Touring Opera, as well as West End shows including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Anya worked for Live Music Now! and Superact and performed in a violin duo called ‘Fiddlesticks’ doing educational outreach work and also playing in concerts in schools, hospitals and prisons. She has always enjoyed teaching and still currently teaches the violin at the Grey Coat Hospital School in Westminster, London.
Anya’s personal highlights at WNO so far have included Der Rosenkavalier, Tosca and the recent tour to Hong Kong.
