
Constança Simas
In the 2021/2022 Season, Constança made her debut with the Southbank Sinfonia. She is Assistant Conductor for various performances with BBC NOW, Welsh National Opera and Orquestra sem Fronteiras. She is part of the WoCo Gateshead programme and was also part of the Young Women Opera Makers residency at the Académie du Festival d’Aix. Constança has premiered work by Portuguese composers and has devised shows to reach wider audiences. She recently graduated with Distinction with an MMus in Orchestral Conducting at Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in the class of Professor David Jones. She has conducted orchestras such as the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, the Athens Philharmonia Orchestra, the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra and the Ealing Symphony Orchestra. She also conducted a production of Venus and Adonis (RWCMD) and holds a Bachelor’s in Orchestral Conducting from Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra.
