Gillian Bevan
Gillian Bevan is an actor, singer, writer, producer and director who trained at the Central School of Speech & Drama. Gillian has worked with RSC (Cymbeline Cymbeline, Celia As You Like It.) Other theatre includes: Polonia in Hamlet (Manchester Theatre Awards Best Supporting Actress); Mrs Lovett in Sweeney Todd and The Witch Into The Woods; Mrs Wilkinson Billy Elliot (West End, Laurence Olivier Audience Award), Mama Mizner in the European premiere of Stephen Sondheim’s Road Show (Menier Chocolate Factory), 80th birthday tribute concert of Company for Stephen Sondheim (Donmar Warehouse), My Fair Lady (Teatro San Carlo, Naples and Teatro Massimo, Palermo); Luciana in The Boys from Syracuse (directed by Judi Dench.) Gillian also spent three years with Alan Ayckbourn’s Theatre-in-the-Round company. Film includes London Road directed by Rufus Norris, Polonia in Hamlet at the Royal Exchange, starring Maxine Peake and Cymbeline at the RSC. Gillian’s extensive television work includes Teachers and The Windsors for Channel 4; Ghostwatch and Holby City for the BBC.
Gillian was a founding member of Tights Assets Theatre where she has either directed, co-written and produced over 50 dramas and readings for BBC Radio 4 and Radio 5 Live. With Simon Green she co-produced Sunday with Sondheim at the Shaftesbury Theatre and was part of the concert version of Merrily We Roll Along directed by Julia McKenzie.
