
Joseph Alford
Director and movement director Joseph Alford is co-artistic director of the company Theatre O. He studied at the École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq and has a BA in Drama and English from the University of East Anglia. As movement director his opera and theatre credits include productions such as Ariadne auf Naxos, Pelléas et Mélisande, Alcina (Aix-en-Provence Festival), Purcell’s Miranda (Opéra Comique, Paris), Lucia di Lammermoor, George Benjamin’s Lessons in Love and Violence (Royal Opera House), Idomeneo (ENO), Hänsel und Gretel, Lucy Kirkwood’s Beauty and the Beast, Theodor Geisel’s The Cat in the Hat, Thomas Heywood’s A Woman Killed with Kindness (National Theatre), Dennis Kelly’s Girls & Boys (Royal Court), Julian Philips’ How the Whale Became, James MacMillan’s Clemency (ROH2), Hamlet (RSC), Brian Friel’s Dancing at Lughnasa (Theatre Clwyd). He has directed extensively and has worked as associate and co-director and performer in numerous productions.
