Meet WNO

Kate Woolveridge

Kate was born in Cardiff and studied at Sheffield University and The Royal Academy of Music, where she was awarded the NFMS Alfreda Hodgson bursary. She has since worked extensively with WNO, as well as Glyndebourne Festival Opera, ENO, Wexford Festival Opera, Swansea City Opera and Music Theatre Wales. As a recitalist and oratorio artist, she has performed in many of the UK’s concert halls including Wigmore Hall, Festival Hall and Purcell Rooms, as well as several cathedrals.

Kate is a renowned vocal animateur and choral trainer. Along with a busy career in the UK, she has worked internationally in the USA, Singapore, Dubai and Hong Kong. In 2011, she co-founded Forget-me-not Chorus, a charity for people living with and alongside dementia, and in 2012 was awarded ITV’s Inspirational Woman of the Year for her work. In 2017, Kate was made an Associate of The Royal Academy of Music in recognition of her services to music, and in 2024 was made an MBE.
