
Kenneth Overton
Baritone Kenneth Overton makes his Welsh National Opera debut as Pero Jones/Chief Mistawasis in the critically acclaimed production of Migrations. Following this, he will sing the role of King Duncan in WNO’s The Shoemaker. Kenneth is a 2020 Grammy Award Winning artist for the title role in the recording of Richard Danielpour’s The Passion of Yeshua with the Buffalo Philharmonic conducted by JoAnn Falletta. In 2021, Overton made his Metropolitan Opera debut in the Grammy Award Winning Production of Porgy and Bess as Lawyer Frazier. For his portrayal of Stephen Kumalo, in Kurt Weill’s Lost in The Stars, Overton was nominated for the 2019 St. Louis Theatre Circle Award for ‘Outstanding Performance in an Opera’. Kenneth has sung leading roles at some of the world’s great opera houses such as, San Francisco Opera, L’Opéra de Montreal, Palacio Bellas Artes, New York City Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Royal Danish Opera, as well as many regional opera houses across America. Recent appearances include the World Premiere of An African American Requiem by Damien Geter with the Oregon Symphony Orchestra.
