Lea Shaw

Glasgow-based mezzo-soprano Lea Shaw is from Colorado, USA, and studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Alexander Gibson Opera School. She was the winner of the 2023 Northern Alborough Festival New Voices Competition. Lea was an Emerging Artist, then Associate Artist, with Scottish Opera 2021-24 and Education Artist in Residence 2024-25, where her roles included Hermia (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Paquette (Candide), Niña (Ainadamar), Suor Zelatrice (Suor Angelica), La Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi), Mercedes (Carmen), Rosina (The Barber of Seville), Flora (La traviata) and Komorna (The Makropulos Affair). In 2024, Lea made her ENO debut as The Monitoress (Suor Angelica). Lea is a Samling Artist, and is the founder of The Small Magician, a fully accessible, inclusive, trauma-aware vocal education resource.
