Marienella Phillips

Marienella Phillips is a British-Filipino mezzo-soprano, actor and director. She sang in Henry V (Donmar Warehouse) and played Alice, Cambridge and Salisbury. This production was directed by Max Webster and led by Kit Harrington as part of National Theatre Live. She was Assistant Director for The Downfall of Don José (Longborough Festival Opera) directed by Maria Jagusz where she also played Carmen. Marienella sang the English National Anthem at Twickenham Stadium and the Welsh National Anthem at Ashton Gate Stadium. She graduated from Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and David Seligman Opera Studio in 2020. While there, she won the Adelina Patti and Dolan Evans Vocal Prizes. She made her Welsh National Opera debut as Mrs Charlton Dead Man Walking.
