Martyn Ryan

Martyn Ryan was formerly a Partner and the Chief Operating Officer at Genesis Investment Management, a leading specialist Emerging Markets equities investment manager. His responsibilities included finance, operations, risk management, taxation and product structuring. He remains a Trustee of the Genesis Charitable Trust. He now holds a number of non-executive, consultancy and charitable trustee positions. 

Prior to joining Genesis in 1994, he was Chief Operating Officer at the Japanese trust bank, Chuo Trust International Limited and before that held positions in finance and investment banking at Kitcat & Aitken, Morgan Grenfell and Schroders, having trained with PwC (then Coopers & Lybrand) in 1984.

Martyn is keen on all sports, in particular rugby union; he is a director of the Cardiff Blues, and Chairman of the Welsh Exiles. He is also Chair of the Tom Maynard Trust and the Cardiff Blues Regional Benevolent Trust

Martyn was born in Cardiff and educated at Penarth Grammar School and the University of Southampton, where he gained a degree in Business Economics and Sociology, and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
