Matthew Kofi Waldren
Matthew Kofi Waldren is a conductor of British and Ghanaian ancestry, who is renowned for his detailed, responsive and collaborative approach to music-making. ENO Mackerras Fellow (2016-18) and nominated at the International Opera Awards (2017), he has established himself as one of the UK’s foremost opera conductors, equally at home in the concert hall, recording studio and theatre pit and even recording the soundtrack to London’s new Elizabeth Line.
Recent engagements: British premiere of award-winning American opera Blue, Le nozze di Figaro and the Olivier Award-nominated Paul Bunyan (ENO), The Pearl Fishers, La bohème, Don Giovanni (Opera North), Will Todd’s Migrations (WNO), Jonathan Dove’s Flight and Gianni Schicchi (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Opera).
