Melissa Gregory
Australian mezzo-soprano Melissa Gregoryis a Welsh National Opera Associate Artist 2023/2024. She is a recent graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music and the Queensland Conservatorium. She was a finalist in the 2022 International Handel Singing Competition, an award winner in the 2021 JSRB Bel Canto Award and second prize winner in the Joyce and Michael Kennedy Award for the Singing of Strauss. Melissa is also a Samling Artist.
She has performed in Australia and internationally with Glyndebourne, Opera Queensland, Lyric Opera Studio Weimar, Northern Opera Group, the Song Company (Sydney), the Queensland Choir, The Bach Society of Queensland and the Sunshine Coast Chorale Society. On the concert platform, she has performed as a soloist in the Verdi Requiem as part of the Noosa Chorale’s Silver Anniversary Year Celebration. She has also performed in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony as a guest alumni soloist at the Queensland Conservatorium, JS Bach’s Magnificat, Handel’s Dixit Dominus (Sunshine Coast Choral Society), Schubert Magnificat in C, Beethoven Mass in C and Mozart’s Requiem (Queensland Choir). Melissa was also a soloist in the critically acclaimed premiere of Opera Queensland’s Mozart Airborne, nominated for two Helpmann awards including Best Dance Production.
Her operatic engagements include Der Komponist and Dryade Ariadne auf Naxos (RNCM and Lisa Gasteen National Opera Programme), Cherubino Le nozze di Figaro, Minskwoman Flight and FoxGoldenmane CunningLittleVixen (RNCM), Orlofsky Die Fledermaus (Lyric Opera Studio Weimar), Hansel Hänsel und Gretel, Dritte Dame Die Zauberflöte and Florence Pike Albert Herring (QC) and Dido Dido and Aeneas (Musica Antiqua Collegi).
Recent/upcoming engagements include: Ensemble of nuns Dialogues des Carmélites and member of the Chorus L’elisir d’amore (Glyndebourne Summer Festival).
