Mikeal studied music at the University of Northern Carolina and at the University of Illinois. He undertook further studies at the University of Miami with Lucas Drew and at the Norwegian Academy with Knut Guettler.
Prior to joining WNO, Mike worked with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.
Mikeal’s personal highlights with WNO so far have included Pelléas et Mélisande with Pierre Boulez and Die Meistersinger with Lothar Koenigs.
Away from WNO, Mike is very keen on cooking. He also enjoys spending time with his family, gardening and playing electric bass in a church worship band.
