Nicola Amery
Nicola was formerly Operations Director for Spire Healthcare plc and has over 30 years’ professional experience in senior executive and non-executive roles, mostly in healthcare and education.
After a successful period in healthcare computing, Nicola spent nine years running independent hospitals for Cygnet Healthcare and Nuffield Hospitals. She then joined the Board of The Leadership Trust but was persuaded to return to healthcare and in 2007, moved to Cardiff as Hospital Director for the newly formed Spire Healthcare (formerly BUPA Hospitals). During her seven year tenure, she also chaired the Welsh Independent Healthcare Association and served on other representative and government bodies, including Quality & Safety Forum Wales. She also joined the Board of Leadership & Management Wales and became a Governor and Vice Chair of Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Nicola was born and brought up in Bath. Her family first moved to South Wales in the late 1970s and she completed her schooling at Crosskeys College. She graduated with a modern languages degree from Birmingham University and also spent time at Stanford Business School in California. She is now a Business Consultant and remains on the Board of Governors at Cardiff Met University, chairing both Remuneration and Resources Committees.
