Olivia Fuchs
Overview
Olivia Fuchs is an international opera and theatre director. She won the 2007 Green Room and Helpmann Awards for Rusalka at Sydney Opera House. For WNO she has directed The Makropulos Affair (nominated for the Skyarts/Southbank award) and Der Rosenkavalier. Other notable productions include Falstaff, Rusalka and Don Giovanni (Opera North); Pélleas et Mélisande (Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires); The Marriage of Figaro (ENO); A Midsummer Night’s Dream (ROH); Ines de Castro (Scottish Opera) and Grete Minde (world premiere, Oper Magdeburg). She has also directed Faust, Der Rosenkavalier, Otello, Madama Butterfly (Magdeburg); Dead Man Walking (Oldenburg); Die Zauberflöte, Madama Butterfly (Oviedo); Rigoletto, La traviata, Il trovatore (Danish National Opera); The Rake’s Progress, Hänsel und Gretel, Cherevichki, Maynight, Osud and Šárka (Garsington Opera); L’Orfeo and The Cunning Little Vixen (Longborough Festival Opera); Kat’a Kabanova, Jenůfa, Iolanta, Fidelio, Iris, Macbeth and Lucia di Lammermoor (Opera Holland Park).
Future work includes: La traviata (Irish National Opera), Eugene Onegin (Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe) and Snowmaiden (English Touring Opera).
