Professor Medwin Hughes
Professor Medwin Hughes is the longest serving Vice-Chancellor in Wales and over the last 20 years has played a significant role in the reconfiguration of the Welsh Higher Education system. He is a graduate of Aberystwyth University and Jesus College, Oxford University.
As a fluent bilingual speaker, he has served as the Deputy Chair of the Welsh Language Board and on numerous advisory committees of the Welsh Government and the Council of Europe with regard to educational and cultural policy. He has championed a number of international initiatives which have focused upon intercultural issues. He is a strong advocate for inclusion and cultural equity through education and the arts. Over the years he has played a significant role with numerous charities in Wales and has a strong appreciation of change management and effective governance. He is Chair of one of the largest charities in Wales – the Representative Body of the Church in Wales.
