Sam Sharples

Sam Sharples is an experienced filmmaker, director, cinematographer and editor from Hastings. He has a broad range of work, from feature films, documentaries, theatre projections, installations, performance, music videos and more experimental shorts.

Sam studied at Eastbourne College of Arts and Technology, film school at University of Wales, Newport, before undertaking a Masters degree in Documentary at Royal Holloway, University of London. His graduation film installation Nan and John was shown at the National Portrait Gallery in London. In 2019 Sam edited Identity, a portrait of the singer Poly Styrene from the band X-Ray Specs, and in 2021 he completed work on The Romance of Bricks, a documentary portrait of the Artist Liz Finch. Alongside these films he continues to make music videos for Susheela Raman with photographer/director Andrew Catlin.
