Meet WNO

Sian Meinir

Mezzo

Sian was born in Cheshire and raised in Gwynedd. She is a graduate of Bangor University and the Royal Academy of Music with Kenneth Bowen.

Sian was a member of the ROH Chorus before joining the WNO Chorus in 2003. She was recipient of the 2007 Susan Chilcott Award. Her highlights at WNO include Margaret Wozzeck, Enrichetta I Puritani, Annina La traviata, Kate Pinkerton Madam Butterfly, Iseult of the White Hands Le Vin herbé.

Outside of WNO Sian is an Eisteddfod Chair Poet; she also translates songs for the National Eisteddfod, and is a vocal tutor and a national Adjudicator.

Recent engagements: Old Woman of Bala in the world premiere of Wythnos yng Nghymru Fydd (Opra Cymru); a national tour of her one-woman show Dream of Gerontius at St Asaph Cathedral; Ffatri Llais | Voice Factory one-day workshops across Wales.
