
Steffan Lloyd Owen
Welsh baritone Steffan Lloyd Owen is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music. He was the winner of the 2025 Paris Opera Competition and the 2025 Josep Palet Competition. Other competition successes include the W. Towyn Roberts Scholarship Prize and the Blue Riband Osborne Roberts Memorial Prize at the National Eisteddfod of Wales.
Highlights of the 26/27 Season include his debut at Semperoper Dresden as Sam in Trouble in Tahiti and a return to Opernhaus Zürich as Bello in Lafanciulla del west, as well as his debuts at Edinburgh International Festival, ENO and WNO.
Steffan was a member of the International Opera Studio at Opernhaus Zürich from 2024 until 2026. His roles here included Marullo in Rigoletto, Silvano in Un ballo in maschera, Hermann in Les Contes d’Hoffmann and the title role in the Studio’s production of Gianni Schicchi.
Highlights elsewhere include: Ragondin Serch yw’r Doctor (WNO Orchestra); Escamillo Le tragédie de Carmen (role debut, Buxton Festival); Doctor Macbeth (Mid Wales Opera); Guglielmo Così fan tutte (Opera Cymru).
Concert highlights include: Mozart’s Requiem with the Orchestre National de Bretagne, conducted by Grant Llewelyn; and Beethoven’s Mass in C and Choral Fantasy as part of a concert with the BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales and WNO Orchestra, reconstructing the historic Benefit Concert given by Beethoven in Vienna in 1808.
