Meet WNO

Stella Woodman

Stella Woodman studied at the RNCM.

Prior to joining the full time WNO Chorus, Stella sang in the Extra Chorus which she thoroughly enjoyed. She worked as a freelance singer and sang frequently with ENO extra chorus, performed in five seasons with Glyndebourne Festival Opera chorus and four tours with Glyndebourne Touring Opera chorus, and performed with Garsington Opera, Grange Park Opera, Bergen Nasjonale Opera and Diva Opera. When she wasn’t performing Stella worked as a singing teacher at Berkhamsted School and St Clement Danes School which she found incredibly fulfilling.

Stella loves performing in Oratorio in beautiful, historic venues, a highlight being singing the alto solos in Handel’s Messiah at the Cathédrale de Maguelone in France.

Stella’s WNO highlights so far are standing on the ROH stage for the first time with the WNO Chorus and Extra Chorus for War and Peace and performing in a giant monkey suit in The Magic Flute

Outside WNO, Stella loves walking and cycling in the countryside with her husband Mark, paddle boarding with friends, dancing and going to the gym. She has also just started to learn to play golf and has managed to hit the ball a few times, but fears lots of practice is needed before being let loose on a golf course.
