
Sue Blane
Trained at Central School of Art & Design, London, Sue spent two years at Glasgow’s Citizens’ Theatre. She has designed productions for leading theatre, opera and ballet companies in the UK and worldwide. Sue created costumes for the original Rocky Horror Show (stage and film), Shock Treatment, Peter Greenaway’s The Draughtsman’s Contract and Julien Temple’s Absolute Beginners.
Her production credits include The Barber of Seville (Scottish Opera); Nutcracker and Alice’s in Wonderland (English National Ballet); A Midsummer Night’s Dream (RSC/Stockholm); The Relapse (National Theatre); Sylvia (Birmingham Royal Ballet); Magpie and Duenna (Opera North); Christmas Eve (ENO); Cabaret (Donmar).
Costume designs include Guys and Dolls (National Theatre); Jonathan Miller’s Mikado (ENO); Lohengrin (Bayreuth), Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Berlin); Porgy and Bess and Carmen (Glyndebourne); La fanciulla del West (La Scala); Judas Kiss (London, Brooklyn); David Bintley’s/Carl Davis’Aladdin (BRB /Tokyo), Lee Blakeley’s King and I(Chatelet, Paris and Chicago Lyric) and Roman Polanski/Jim Steinman’s Tanz der Vampire.
