Meet WNO

Tamaki Mott

Tutti Second Violin

Tam spent a few years at Junior Guildhall whilst doing A-Levels. He then went on to read Music at King's College London, whilst studying violin at the Royal Academy of Music with Diana Cummings. He gained a Masters and LRAM at the Academy, before spending a fun, fast, and formative year with the Southbank Sinfonia.

Before joining WNO, Tam spent a year freelancing with various orchestras around the UK and a residency as Co-Principal 2nd Violin with the St. Petersburg Ballet.

Tam loves playing a lot of the repertoire: 'Especially the busy 2nd Violin parts of Mozart's operas, and those moments in Puccini (you know the ones...) still really get my heart out on my sleeves!'

Away from WNO, Tam is a keen cyclist and loves the outdoors and photography. He spent summer 2017 cycling from Brighton through France and Spain to Gibraltar. This year he will be going to Nepal for a three-week trek in the Himalayas to Everest Base Camp.
