Tyler studied at the Boston Conservatory and Boston University with Ed Barker and Dennis Roy, both of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Prior to joining WNO, Tyler freelanced and taught in Dallas, Texas (his hometown) before being appointed Principal Bass of the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera.
Tyler’s personal highlight with WNO so far has been Tristan Und Isolde with Lothar Koenigs: 'This was my first Wagner opera and I couldn’t believe how much the music and experience reached my soul. The marathon of sustained tension, beauty and drama created a depth of experience that forever changed me. The atmosphere was intense, unsettling, sweaty and completely intoxicating.'
Away from WNO, Tyler is a keen cook, specifically enjoying spicy Tex-Mex recipes. He also enjoys composing, painting and travel.
