Wojtek Gierlach
Polish born Wojtek Gierlach studied at the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw and won the Ada Sari Competition in 1999 as well as third prize in the Francisco Viñas International Singing Competition in 2004. He has appeared with all of the major opera houses and orchestras in Poland and across Europe, including the Royal Opera House, Deutsche Opera Berlin, Teatro Nacional de São Carlo Lisbon, Los Angeles Opera, Royal Danish Opera, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, WNO and Theater St Gallen. His work at the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw includes Escamillo Carmen, Raimondo Lucia di Lammermoor, Gessler Guillaume Tell and Duce Alfonso Lucrezia Borgia. Previous WNO roles include Sparafucile Rigoletto, Rocco Fidelio, Giorgio I puritani and Alidoro La Cenerentola.
