Zwakele Tshabalala

South African tenor Zwakele Tshabalala studied at the Royal College of Music. Last Season, Zwakele joined English National Opera as a Harewood Artist after his acclaimed performance in Paul Bunyan at Alexandra Palace. He subsequently made his main stage debuts in the British premieres of Heggie’s It’s A Wonderful Life and Jeanine Tesori’s Blue. This Season, he returns to ENO as Nick in The Handmaid’s Tale and Gastone in La traviata. Other future engagements include his US debut with Marin Alsop and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, his return to the Royal Albert Hall to sing Gospel Messiah with the BBC Concert Orchestra, and his debut for Opéra National de Lyon as Trin in Tatjana Gürbaca’s new production of La fanciulla del West under Daniele Rustioni.
