The Railway Children Aber Musicfest
Overview
Musicfest is delighted to present the Wales premiere of the opera The Railway Children.
This is a new opera by one of the world’s best composers, Mark-Anthony Turnage, and librettist, Rachael Hewer, adapted from Edith Nesbit’s classic children’s book.
This is the second ever performance of the opera, after its initial premiere at Glyndebourne during the 2025 season.
It will be performed by the incredible Welsh National Opera, and conducted by Musicfest’s Artistic Director, Iwan Teifion Davies. The cast will include many of the original cast, with students from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.
