Give a little, help a lot this Giving Tuesday

28 November 2023

Did you know that Welsh National Opera is not just a world-class cultural institution; we are also a registered charity committed to enriching lives through the power of opera? 28 November marks Giving Tuesday, a day dedicated to supporting charitable causes, just like ours. Let's take a closer look at how a small gift, from as little as £1, can play a pivotal role in helping WNO continue our community work. By contributing to our efforts, you are not merely investing in the arts but also in the well-being of the communities we serve in Wales and England.

Wellness with WNO

This encapsulates our work with people living with Long Covid and with those who are experiencing long stays in hospitals. We use the skills inherent in singing to help ease the symptoms of chronic illness while bringing the joy of music to people who are unable to access it in the theatre or concert hall.

WNO Teach

This is our partner school programme, where we work together with schools in Southeast Wales to introduce opera and inspire singing every week. Opera Tutti is an immersive multi-sensory concert, designed for children and young people aged 5-19 years old with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). Our free and inspiring Schools Concerts offer a live orchestral experience for Key Stage 2 students, with popular music from the world of opera, film and TV.

Sanctuary with WNO

WNO's Sanctuary initiative creates a space for sanctuary seekers in Wales to connect through the arts, fostering inclusivity and cultural exchange. Your small gift can help provide a welcoming and safe environment as well as enabling us to continue our work with Oasis Cardiff.

In October 2022 we premiered The Shoemaker, an opera made in collaboration with artists seeking sanctuary in Wales. We hope to produce a follow up opera in 2025; a donation of any size today will help in making that a reality.

WNO Inspire

At WNO we always want to inspire the next generation of opera lovers. Our programme of work with young artists, including WNO Youth Opera, our Associate Artist scheme and our suite of work for families, including our magical Play Opera LIVE! concerts mean that we are developing audiences and artists of the future.

Your gift today will ensure that WNO can continuing to preserve opera for audiences and performers of the future.

How Your £1 Can Make a Difference

Believe it or not but a £1 donation can make a real difference. When combined with contributions from countless other generous individuals, these small donations add up and make a meaningful difference to our ability to deliver this important work.
