Hyfforddwyd Matthew fel actor yn y Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, gan arbenigo mewn theatr gydweithredol a dyfeisio. Mae’n gweithio’n rhyngwladol fel cyfarwyddwr ac actor, gyda ffocws amlwg ar bypedwaith, trin gwrthrychau a theatr gorfforol.
